Rectoscopy
Rectoscopy (proctoscopy) is an invasive endoscopic method for examining the anal canal and also the lower part of the rectum.
With the help of proctoscopy, it is possible to diagnose proctological diseases such as fissures (tears in the mucous membrane around the anus), hemorrhoids, but also oncological diseases (cancer).
Procedure of the examination
In most cases, no special preparation is necessary. The proctological examination is carried out without the administration of sedative medication. The examination is usually painless and only takes a few minutes.
